Architecture – Yesterday and Tomorrow?

This is the second year that the festival has included an event related to the Art of Architecture.

a contemporary residential dwellingIn 2011, Contemporary Architecture in the Dereham Memorial Hall, in association with FANN XI, was presented by Jeremy Stacey B.Arch, Dip. Arch, Architect at Swaffham Community Centre, Campingland, Swaffham.

This year the theme is ARCHITECTURE – YESTERDAY AND TOMORROW?

This event will be presented in two parts.

The first part will explain how the architecture of our local area developed and the use of local materials in buildings. This section is to be presented by James Parry President of the Norfolk Branch Campaign for the Protection of Rural England.

The Norfolk branch of the Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE Norfolk) exists to promote the beauty, tranquillity and diversity of rural Norfolk by encouraging the sustainable use of land and other natural resources in town and country.

The second half of the evening will concentrate on how design, the use of materials and saving of energy will influence the future of our home in years to come. This will be presented by Chris Parsons, Director of Parsons & Whittley Ltd Architects, based in Swaffham.

The event will be held at the GEORGE HOTEL, Swaffham at 7.00pm on Thursday 4th October 2012.
